Cotswold Care Hospice

Project Value: £2.8m

Cotswold Care Hospice is a charity providing palliative day care. The new 1,200 sqm hospice replaces an inappropriate existing building with a state-of-the-art facility.

Sustainability is a major part of the design with rainwater harvesting, solar hot water, natural ventilation supported by solar-powered mechanical systems and the use of recycled materials wherever possible.

The building was officially opened by HRH The Prince of Wales on 22nd December 2008.  Prince Charles met architect Charles Cox and was keen to find out about the project.

“This project started as a refurbishment and extension of an existing building. It went through many permutations to arrive at the final solution. We have incorporated therapy suites, treatment rooms, an art studio and education centre to give patients a full range of beneficial experiences."

- Charles Cox, Architect

Muriel Smith "This building is absolutely wonderful! It’s so comfortable and welcoming."
