Martin Horwood, MP to
Launch New Offices

Martin Horwood, MP for Cheltenham, has confirmed he will officially open Heath Avery's new Cheltenham offices on Friday 5th December 2008.

It will be an action-packed day as the morning will see the Opening followed by the starting of Heath Avery's 30th Birthday celebrations (1979-2009) ~ and a good excuse to kick-start the festive season.

Heath Avery will also be unveiling their Guide to Sustainability in Schools which is the first of a number of pragmatic expert guides to assist those with financial and FM responsibility to cut through the confusing information and identify what they can do to reduce their energy and waste costs and ‘green-up’ their organisations. Heath Avery is now offering Sustainability Audits as part of a suite of consulting services to provide qualified advice and guidance on both existing building stock and new build considerations.

The formal proceedings on the 5th, will be followed by a mid-day invitation-only opportunity for key clients and suppliers to visit the offices and see what the team has delivered to date and some of the exciting schemes in the pipeline.

There will be an Open Day from 2pm-4.30pm where anyone is welcome to drop in and join us for a Birthday/Christmas drink and nibbles.

The team is vacating its two offices, at 3 & 6 Bath Mews, for a larger, open-plan environment just around the corner. Westmoreland House on Bath Road is also occupied by Winston’s Wish and The Jelf Group and offers great flexibility for current and future needs.

Heath Avery is launching a new branding, with a dynamic new website, to coincide with the move and position the practice firmly in its focus sectors of Care, Education, Specialist Residential and Workspaces.

"Despite the doom and gloom in the building sector, we have had a superb start to 2008 with a strong order book for the year," said David Heath, founding director of the practice. "We are actively seeking additional talent, both architects and technicians. Our new space will provide the optimum working environment."

Heath Avery is also advertising for a managing director to lead the company through this growth phase, so the architects can concentrate on delivery of the projects and client care.

Cotswold Care - Launch of Eco-Centre

There was a touch of Hollywood glamour in Minchinhampton recently as Heath Avery's Charles Cox and Kevin Truss turned out for the sod-cutting ceremony at Cotswold Care Hospice. Bond girl Fiona Fullerton was not to be outdone however, and braved the showers to officially launch the building of the new facility which is due for completion in April 2008 at a cost of just over £2m - thanks to lottery funding. HRH Prince of Wales is a patron of Cotswold Care and is a regular visitor to events at the centre.

The 1200sq m building is a specially-designed day centre where terminally ill patients can enjoy a variety of therapies, treatments and educational activities.

The highly sustainable design features rainwater harvesting, solar-heated water, high levels of insulation and the use of recycled materials wherever possible.

Heath Avery Architects, who have extensive experience in the care sector, are working in conjunction with Speller Metcalfe as main contractor.

Richard Pate School
Arts and Sciences Extension

Work has now started on constructing this exciting new centre of excellence for the Richard Pate prep school.

The conceptual design of the building reflects the aspirations of the school in providing the very best facility for teaching arts, sciences and languages within a clean, contemporary envelope, which has its own visual identity. The light and airy spaces created by the wave form roof and curtain walling are naturally ventilated, and have been thermally modelled to ensure optimum comfort conditions.

Work started on site in May 2006 and completion of the project is expected in November 2006, at an approximate cost of £700,000.
