Heath Avery completing zero carbon housing developments

Charles Cox is completing two infill housing schemes for a developer with sites in Cheltenham and Stroud. The aspiration is to get as close as possible to zero-carbon homes with features including super-insulation, photovoltaics and solar hot water.

Both sites are due for completion early in 2012 for private sale.
New girls' boarding house for Cheltenham College

Heath Avery is delighted to be designing a 72 bed girls' boarding house on Thirlstaine Road. The last new build boarding house Cheltenham College completed was Ashmead House in 2001 - which was also designed by architect Charles Cox.

Still in early design stage, the building will include a mix of dorms and ensuite rooms in a contemporary design.
The Orangerie, Private Cotswold Country House

The Orangerie is an impressive conservatory of around 150 sq m adjoining a private country house in the Cotswolds with design cues from the Taj Mahal, proportioned using the 'golden section' with an onion dome roof and a full-length glazed ridge light.

Constructed from locally-mined Cotswold stone and with traditional timber lights, this will be one of the most stunning and unusual architectural features that architect Malcolm Sutton has been commissioned to design since his time at Heath Avery.
Lench's Close

Lench's Close is a sheltered homes development in Mosely, Birmingham for Lench's Trust with whom Heath Avery has a long association. The project involved improvement works to the communal areas like a library/IT area; laundry; site manager's office and meeting areas.
