As founder members of Gloucestershire 10:10, it's no surprise that we are totally committed to creating a low carbon county.

We have conducted an extensive audit into our sustainability as a company, what we could improve and what needs revolutionising! It is an on-going process but we are already finding some great additional benefits:- cost reduction and team spirit.

Here are some of the things we are doing and planning:

Heath Avery’s Sustainable Commitment

  • We recycle plastic, glass, cardboard, paper, ink cartridges, batteries, foil and anything else we can.
  • We use recycled/sustainably sourced paper for photocopying and stationery; and minimise our use of paper.
  • Our printers use vegetable-based dyes, chemical-free plates and alcohol-free presses.
  • We use environmentally-friendly cleaning and washroom products.
  • Lights use low energy bulbs and are switched off when not in use.
  • We have a respectable carbon footprint for transport and travel – most staff regularly walk, cycle or use public transport to and from work.
  • We actively lift-share where feasible for meetings.
  • We constantly ask the question: do we need this or is there a more sustainable alternative?
  • We have significantly reduced our brochure and stationery print including production of business cards on a need-only basis.
  • We print and post very little. Hard copy invoices and statements are only sent where the client will not accept an e-invoice.
  • We use an eco-dishwasher to achieve one daily load of crockery to reduce daily water consumption.
  • We ensure only our server is left on overnight.
  • We ‘return to sender’ unwanted literature and magazines and ask to be removed from junk mailing lists.
  • We take part in on-line seminars (webinars) as part of our CPD to reduce travelling.
  • We never use air-conditioning, preferring natural ventilation and use blinds to reduce solar gain.
  • We have selected a responsible landlord who is committed to continually lowing the carbon of the offices and who is supplying appropriate recycling facilities.
  • Additionally
  • We advise clients on sustainability issues during the brief-taking and throughout the project.
  • We specify sustainable products as first choice.
  • We operate to ISO 14001 standard
