Sustainability

Whatever your personal beliefs about climate change, legislation is going in one direction and it is our responsibility to ensure clients meet those requirements. If you are greener, we are happy to take you beyond current regulation, to future-proof your investment or to help you to safeguard the environment even further.

We strongly recommend all clients carry out a Sustainability Audit on their existing buildings/estates before briefing in new projects. This will ensure you prioritise your resources and make effective short to medium-term decisions whilst taking a comprehensive view of your business.

Our new build solutions are always pragmatic – essentially just good design and engineering. We work on the Lean - Mean - Clean principle.

Lean - essentially good design which focusses on orientation, thermal     massing, daylighting and no-cost options.

Mean - starting from the minimal requirements of M&E or lighting to ensure the meanest possible design and incorporating intelligent systems to optimise building management.

Clean - ensuring occupants are educated to inhabit the building in a green way and to specify renewable energy sources.

We understand the benefits and constraints of using new technologies and renewables and have many examples of schemes featuring: CHP, ground source heat pumps, photovoltaics, solar panels, grey water recycling and specialist glazing and other construction materials.

From a single dwelling to a £10m care village – we’ve exceeded our clients’ sustainable expectations. Indeed, we built one of the country's first earth-sheltered houses over twenty years ago.

Our architects, ably assisted by Associate Director, Kevin Truss, are actively driving our technical knowledge-base to ensure we are ahead of the game. We operate to ISO 14001 standards.

Both Stephen Vaughan and Charles Cox are members of the Green Register for which they had to pass a course and show on-going commitment to sustainable design.
